Marketing Strategy


Coin Acceptors Corporation (also known as Coinco) had quietly gone about its business, becoming one of the largest companies in the category of vending machine changers. However, they were facing increasing competition from Mars – the same company that makes the candy bars. Traditional advertising for changing machines was quite dull and unimaginative. We took a completely different tack, selling their key benefits to the different machines they offered in attention-getting, bold, creative, yet extremely simple ways. The ads stood out in the magazines where they ran, getting both read-most and remembered-most advertising scores.

The overall theme line we developed also helped position CoinCo for what they do – “For a changing world” was truly the world they lived in as technological changes continue to revolutionize the category. The overall company brochure we developed delivered that story and positioned them for future change.
